OHR ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY
To protect our environment, we believe and will practice the following principles:
- The environment will be an important issue for consideration in our business-making processes.
- We will seek to minimize the environmental impact of our business operations on our local community and the communities of our suppliers.
- We will dispose of our waste and by-products in a manner that has minimal impact on the environment.
- We will encourage suggestions from our staff for improvements in environmental protection.
- We will inform staff and the public about our environmental program.
- We will participate in community initiatives that care for and improve the environment.
- We will lead by example with our environmental endeavors.
- We will commit the necessary resources, both monetary and personnel, to working towards the principles.
We will:
- Adopt and display the above environmental policy statement.
- Develop and promote this environmental management program
- Reduce food waste that we generate and recycle it to the maximum extent.
- Reduce the use of toxic chemicals and/or change how you dispose of those you have to use.
- Recycle to the maximum extent possible: paper, plastic, cooking oils, etc.
- Practice energy conservation
- Practice water conservation
- Purchase with environmental criteria in mind.
How we will get there:
- Buy recycled products
- Ensure suppliers are aware of our environmental goals.
- Ask what suppliers are doing to improve their performance.
- Avoid single-use and disposable items.
- Buy in bulk or concentrate, where possible
- Buy from suppliers who do not wrap in plastic or who use the least packaging
- Install low flow nozzles in sinks and basins where feasible
- Purchase water efficient appliances
- Give water to patrons only when asked
- Repair all leaks, and turn off all taps when not in use
- Place water conservation information where employees can see
- Turn off lights when not needed, use daylight as much as possible
- Use energy efficient lighting
- Clean off light bulbs, lamps, etc.
- Use energy-efficient appliances where feasible
- Set heating and cooling to be comfortable, but not excessive
- Use cold water whenever possible
- Insulate building and piping
- Inspect seals on refrigerators and freezers
- Keep filters clean
- Keep refrigerators and freezers away from heat sources
- Use alternatives to pesticides
- Use the minimum amount of pesticides or use organic where possible
- Use alternative, less toxic cleaners
- Use home-made cleaners, such as vinegar and baking soda where feasible
- Use rechargeable batteries
- Properly dispose of all toxic chemicals
- Recycle glass, paper, cardboard, aluminum cans, steel cans, plastic soft drink, milk and cleaning bottles
- Recycle cooking fats, oils and greases
- Buy recycled products, such as paper, toilet paper, printing paper, etc., whenever possible
- Recycle packaging materials
